Commercial cleaners work in a variety of different environments. From warehouses to office buildings, they will have to know how exactly to clean each type of building. Along with this, there are variations between just one type of building as well! For example, some offices can be very large and others can be extremely small. There will be different ways to clean both of these different types of offices. A new study that was recently released also shows that there may be another thing that changes the way commercial cleaners clean different types of buildings. This new finding showed that the amount of sunlight that a room had in it changed the number of bacteria that grew there. Rooms that had more sunlight in them actually had fewer bacteria than the rooms that had no sunlight at all. This has the possibility to greatly change how commercial cleaners clean.
A lot of commercial cleaners strive to do as much disinfection in the space that they are cleaning as possible, but according to this new information, commercial cleaners may need to clean even harder in places where there isn’t a lot of sunlight. These types of places mostly consist of areas like warehouses where there may or may not be windows. In a warehouse, even though there might be windows, there is still such a large space that there may be some areas that never actually get hit by direct sunlight. This can lead to an overgrowth of bacteria in the areas that aren’t hit by the sunlight.
The reason as to why bacteria tends to not grow as much in rooms with a lot of sunlight is very clear to researchers. According to one researcher, “Sunlight has UV light — UVA and UVB [individual wavelengths in the ultraviolet spectrum] — and they have germicidal capabilities.”
According to this new information, it looks like commercial cleaners will have to put in a little more effort when cleaning a building that doesn’t have a lot of sunlight in it!
